aFTER A CCOUPLE MONTHS IT JUST STOPPED WORKING, AND WOULDN’T CHARGE OR ANYTHING.
It was a great system, and worked very well until it didn’t, just blanked out. It won’t boot up, or take a charge, just nothing, may as well be a rock.

Save a troubleshooting nightmare and just get a Steamdeck instead unless you feel lucky
As an elder millennial experienced in computer assembly and software management, I consider the Asus ROG Ally the most problematic electronic device I’ve ever encountered. My investments have included HD DVDs and a Windows phone, yet this device stands out as the most exasperating of all.The downsides:It requires incessant maintenance to operate correctly. Despite numerous updates, it continues to devise new and infuriating challenges to my patience. Initially, the built-in controller was incompatible with any games, necessitating extensive troubleshooting. Subsequently, it would unpredictably alternate between the built-in controller and mouse and keyboard inputs, demanding additional time to correct. It also has a tendency to freeze randomly, prompting a reboot, and following the resolution of a BSOD loop due to a Bitlocker issue, it now fails to load games from my Microsoft account. My intention in purchasing this device was to enjoy gaming at night in bed without causing disturbance and to prevent hogging the Xbox and family TV. Nonetheless, even after days of setup and updates, I am still plagued by troubleshooting issues with nearly every startup. The upside:On the infrequent occasions (one in ten) when it operates flawlessly, it proves to be enjoyable. In retrospect, the Steam Deck might have been a more dependable option, but hindsight is always perfect, depending on whose hind you are sighting.Even with a “Good One,” you are perpetually one ASUS firmware update away from relentless aggravation (I strongly advise researching ASUS ROG ALLY ISSUES prior to purchase). So, do you feel lucky, punk?

Complicated and frustating av
Save your time its almost useless, really bad interface, try to play a few games and got a Direct X error. Is not a plug and play device . They had to join the previous Ally ROG with the xbox so the score is not that low.

Software design is unusable
Spent 24 hours trying to set the thing up and it was such a pain that I gave up and returned it. Never even got to the point where I was installing a game.

If you like bad controls and horrible graphics and frames this is for you.

Don’t waste your money
If I still had hair I’d have pulled it all out by now. This device is problematic. Very very bad battery (only 2 hours of use max) Every game works differently. Overwatch does not work well on this device. It’s laggy, slow when i turn left (except when I use a Xbox controller) which means it’s a hardware/software issue when running overwatch. Nothing you do works. Also God forbid you have to deal with ASUS customer service. I knew they had a horrible customer support team thanks to YouTube but I thought me being computer literate would give me a pass. I was wrong. Update, 06-01-24 when I originally purchased this, the listing had thousands of sales with minimum 4 stars rating average. Now suddenly just 2 reviews?

Lots of windows updates
Edit: Within two weeks of using it, left analog stick has stick drift. Support on ASUS website is an automated system that puts you on hold for 10 minutes plus with no help from a real human. Chat on website says to take to your local authorized ASUS repair and no place within 30 miles does repairs on it. Gives you options that don’t fix it but make it worse. Not worth the price for the issues with no fix. I would definitely recommended just getting a steam deck.Just got it and I’ve spent a few hours alone downloading windows updates. Will quite literally download every windows update in existence before you can start doing anything with it. Super inconvenient! Haven’t even got the chance to try out any games

Crash city
Tried to play FALLOUT 3 and it crashed before I could get out of the vault. Xbox name shouldn’t be on this device

I was really excited and I planned everything and I got the accessories and best hub in the market , I was planning to get the Rog ally X in the future

I was eyeing for the Lenovo GO due to issues with the SD card slot killing SD cards for this mode, however due to the significant price drop, I opted for this instead. I’m familiar with the ROG brand and it didn’t disappoint. For the right price, definately was a deal to take. Software is ok, just the display sometimes it acts out a bit, since you have no mouse, touch screen is a bit tricky at times. You can get a hub and connect a KB/Mouse and make it into a PC for easier use.

When I received the product, there was a drift in the analogue. I do not recommend buying used.

It’s good but the battery life is poor
