Very sturdy
Things are finally coming together, thanks to this amazing product. I saw this lamp at Mahan’s new place. I had not seen him for weeks. Was very busy with after graduation life. The studio, catching up with my friends and doing nothing and sleeping in. It takes me sometime to break the ice whenever there’s a gap in my relationship with my friends. This lamp and the conversation around fastened the ice-breaking process. Isn’t it the main reason we buy things? Well it is for me. But not all objects have the same impact as this amazing lamp. This lamp, with its humble body posture looking don the table, illuminates the conversation in an amazingly unexpected way. It made us to remember forgotten details of a forgotten moment in our lives. Papers, pens, inks, rulers and the hardships we went through before computers and design softwares. Stationeries. Soon to be obsolete. It all seems sweet from the distance of time and technology.We always dealt with light and lamps. I studied graphic design and Mahan did architecture. He wants to draw again. In his tiny beautiful apartment where he had just moved in after all the dramas that have no room in this review. But the lamp did make a difference to him and I quote: “I really like this lamp, it works really well. It’s cheep too”. He said.I feel more confident when drawing with this lamp. This is a wonderful and exciting lamp
This is a wonderful lamp and it has provided me with a great deal of excitement for which I am very grateful. When I first took it out of the box, I thought surely this cannot work. The parts fitted loosely and threatened to disassemble in my hands. But I had little choice, this being the only desk lamp I owned at the time and decided to fit it to my desk regardless. That leap of trust was infinitely rewarding. Not only did the clamp fit perfectly, but having a fixed point of gravity imbued this lamp with stability I had not previously thought possible. When I turn it or adjust the height it offers just the right amount amount of resistance. It illuminates my desk at this very moment and I highly recommend it.

Surprisingly good for the price
I didn’t have much expectation for this lamp given the price point but it turned out to be pretty good. Light but solid if you tighten the nuts a bit and it serves the purpose. The only thing that can be improved is that it is way too loose in this socket so it rotates rather eagerly and if your desk is a bit tilted – it would be a problem. But this can be solved by wrapping the joint with some tape. What I value in this lamp is that I can use any bulb I want (that was the reason I bought it)

Lacks durability. Plastic parts break easily.
I’m shopping for a new swing arm lamp because this lamp, the one you’re looking at here, is an example of cost-cutting and poor durability. It’s the cheapest on Amazon for a very good reason, and it’s not for the value. One key piece is made of plastic that likely costs $0.50 less than metal, but when, not if, that piece breaks the lamp is instantly junk & difficult to repair.The lamp shade assembly connects to the swing arm by a plastic post and clamp. The post allows the shade to rotate, and it fits in the arm with a bolt and clamp to adjust the angle. It’s pretty much THE key piece. When you tighten the clamp to fix the angle of the lamp shade, the split plastic collar is squeezed together to fix the angle. After a few cycles, that plastic collar cracks, of course, as any mechanical designer above the age of 12 or so would predict it to do. This design choice wasn’t an accidental stupid, it was a deliberate stupid to squeeze a penny out of a t**d.I was able to salvage the lamp by using 2-part epoxy made for use with plastic. However, the shade is now fixed in place, I can’t adjust the angle or rotation. There isn’t enough glue surface to repair it and retain the original function. Cheap piece of crapola!Bottom line: spend a bit more for a lamp that has a metal piece for the angle clamp.

One of the best swing lamps
It’s difficult to find a well-reviewed swing lamp in this price range, but I love this one.First, the clamp to hold to a surface is robust, all metal, strong, and opens up to 2.5 inches.Next the ‘arms’ are about 15″ each, so you’ve got a good distance to work with, and they hold position easily. Next, the shade (which is removable) mounts firmly to the socket, and covers a normal E26 bulb so there’s no glare side-to-side. The only slight negative is it’s not “locked” into the clamp, so when repositioning it, you’ll need to be careful about that. But given its other strengths, this is still the lamp I was looking for.Edit: Note this review is for the Globe 56963 Black lamp. Reviews for several different Globe lamps have been merged here — the ones with plastic clamps are not as good.

Cheap and it works, but you’ll have to fix the shade (otherwise it falls off)
This is the second of these lamps I’ve bought. The other was from another source and under another brand name but identical down to the smallest detail. On both of them, the shade wouldn’t stay on the lamp fixture, so I had to drill out a couple of holes and attach it with sheet metal screws. You could probably use epoxy and / or duct tape, but screws were a bit more elegant.It’s nothing too impressive but it’s cheap and it works so I’m OK with it.[ 10 Days Later Update ] Cheap price == cheap components.Less than two weeks of occasional use and the switch has broken, so I’ll have to repair or replace the socket. I’m sure Globe Electric doesn’t make the socket / switch, but they certainly buy down to a price and the (lack of) quality shows.

This is the second of these lamps I buy. Used by my girls to read in bed. The first one is used on the lower bunk bed, which my daughter enclosed in blankets for privacy. No heat emanates from this LED lamp, so no risk of fire or burning her fingers when moving the lamp head.Second was bought for jealous elder sister who is now schooled from home. It swings easily between her bed and her small desk so she can work/read/study with appropriate lighting.In both cases, the spring system is sturdy enough to hold the lamp head where positioned. No sagging or spring back.Overall, satisfied with both purchases. A bit expensive, but built well enough to be worth it. Would have liked the option of a screw-in base bracket for wall/bedside mounting, but can make one myself.

I am a painter, and use this lamp over my desk. I use it with a daylight bulb, which keeps the colours true. It moves fairly easily, although I feel it could be a bit tighter in the joints. Nice and easy to turn on, and it packs away if you want to take it to the cottage.
