Easy to use
My first smart home device. Setup was simple, it responds well to all my questions. I purchased a GE smartlight which does not require a hub and this mini connected to it easily and now I can turn lights off and on by voice. I’m looking forward to adding more smart devices.

Great smart speaker.
Love this speaker. I do also have the issue with it speaking in an Asian language but it’s easy to switch. My daughter who is 7 loves it also. She likes being able to just play music on a whim. Sound quality is great. Good warm sounding bass. It actually sounds better than I thought it would.

Grey market, but it works
This is clearly a grey market product sold by Amazon in the US. The box is labelled all in Japanese, and when you first plug in the unit it speaks in Japanese. Once you connect to your Google Home app, it speaks in whatever language that is configured for. Installation is not as easy as expected, before you can connect to Google home you must download and run the Device Utility app. I’m disappointed by this as I would have expected a Google product to be configured to work directly with the Google home app. Once up and running, the Google assistant works well and the sound quality is very good for such a small speaker.

When I attempted to set up this speaker, it was speaking in an Asian language that I couldn’t understand. When I tried to set up the device in the Home app, I got an error message stating that the device needed to be activated. That message directed me to a Google support page, the support page directed me to an app in the Play store that no longer exists. 🤦♀️ I got on chat with Google and was told that there is an ongoing issue with these speakers not working with Google Pixel devices, with no resolution date. So I’ll be returning the Google Speaker and going back to Alexa!

I love it – it connects to my google home and can put the same music throughout the house. So easy to set up and I think the price was fair. 10/10 great purchase!

my wife uses this so many times a day and she loves it listens to music while cleaning we have it hung in the kitchen, and she can hear it wherever she is in the house, and we have a huge house. the main thing she uses it for is to find her phone 10 to 20 times a day she will say google where is my phone and it rings it for her. lol

So the device itself is a regular Google Nest Mini speaker. Pretty standard stuff and this review really doesn’t focus on that.The thing to be aware of is that this seller will ship whatever random device (in your chosen color) they happen to have. Basically, you don’t know which international version you may get. My particular device arrived in a box with Japanese writing on it. I could get by with French, German, or Spanish, but Japanese is a bit of a stretch for my limited language skills. Fortunately, unlike some other reviewers, my instruction manual was printed in English.Once I got the speaker out of the box and plugged it in I was greeted with some words in…you guessed it…Japanese. Maybe it was greeting me. Maybe it was cursing my ancestors. Not really sure since I DON’T SPEAK JAPANESE!The good news is that the Google Home app on my iPhone readily recognized that I had a new Google Nest Mini speaker plugged in and began the setup process, walking me through the steps and updating the device’s firmware. Once this was done my device began to speak English in my chosen Google Assistant voice (British Racing Green). From that point on there were no issues and it was just like any other Google Nest Mini speaker purchased from a reputable supplier such as Best Buy or Target.In all it wasn’t that big of a deal and if you just ignore everything and dive straight into the setup process with the Google Home app it won’t take any longer to get your device ready than had it actually arrived set to English in the first place. However, for lack of transparency on this issue I’ve deducted two stars from the overall rating. Just keep in mind that the diminished rating in no way is a reflection of the device itself, which thankfully did a great job reconfiguring itself to my locality despite the fact that it was originally intended for another market.Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto!

Generation hat mich persönlich sehr überzeugt!Die Verarbeitung ist hochwertig und das schlichte, moderne Design fügt sich perfekt in meine Wohnung ein.Für seine Größe ist der Sound außerdem echt gut, sodass ich gerne darüber Musik höre.Früher habe ich eine Amazon Alexa genutzt, um mein Smart Home zu steuern.Schade fand ich hierbei, dass man über Alexa kein YouTube Music als Streamingdienst einstellen konnte. Als YouTube Premium Nutzer echt doof, da man dann zusätzlich ein neues Abo abschließen musste, um über Alexa Musik hören zu können.Dieses Problem habe ich bei Google Home nun nicht mehr. Als Musik Dienst kann man zwischen YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer sowie auch Amazon Musik auswählen! Somit sollte glaube hierbei für jedem etwas passendes dabei sein.Zudem finde ich die Gespräche mit Google viel angenehmer. Die Antworten sind informativ und präzise auf die Frage abgestimmt. Selten das Google sagt: “Tut mir leid, das verstehe ich nicht.”Der Assistent liefert also immer zuverlässig Ergebnisse über das Wetter, die Fahrzeit zum nächsten Rewe oder dem Namen des Schauspielers von bspw. “The Flash”.Des Weiteren funktioniert die Sprachsteuerung für das Smart Home wirklich gut. (Licht, Fernseher usw. an- oder ausschalten)Einziger Kritikpunkt: Es wäre schön, wenn man das Aktivierungswort „Hey Google“ ändern könnte – das wäre eine tolle Option für mehr Individualität.Insgesamt bin ich aber sehr glücklich mit diesem Gerät.
