Great lock, less than great google nest
Install was quick and easy, it wasn’t a perfect match for my door but with some tweaking I made it work. Main issue now is the weather strips on my door are a tad thick so the smart lock has a tendency to stop on the last 1/8th of an inch when locking and so it will say the door didn’t lock, even though it did, it’s only a sliver short of being fully engaged. That’s not the locks fault though. The reason for 3 stars is the Nest Connect that came with it is (hopefully) a faulty model. It worked initially, but about 15 minutes after the full install the connect went offline and was unreachable. I removed it form the nest account and factory reset it, all seemed fine until I want to re-add it to the account, the phone (pixel 4 xl) could no longer detect it. I tried creating a new account, no dice. Tried my wifes iPhone, no dice, tried an iPad, no dice. Tried my kindle fire, no dice. Insert 3 hours of trying everything in a bag of tricks as a network admin with no luck. Ultimately got in touch with Google support and after a brief explanation of the issue and what I had done already to try to fix it they didn’t make me go back through any troubleshooting, simply said they’d send me a slip to send mine back and they would send a replacement. If I get a new connect that is fully functional, the review will go up to 5 stars, the lock itself works great and I have zero complaints about that part of the package.Edit: just realized now a year later I neglected to update this. Google sent me a new functional nest extender and all worked after that, so the review.has been changed to give stars.

Who Needs Keys!
We just recently moved into a new home and one of the initiatives that I’ve been working to do is to reduce the number of keys that I need to bring with me when I’m out of the house! As it stands now with the installation of the Nest x Yale Lock, all I need is the Key Fob for my car, which is amazing! The Nest x Yale Lock is an amazing smart lock and we’ve gladly added it to our collection of smart home devices! It operates quite well as advertised; we are able to lock it and unlock it using the touch panel and/or using our smartphone devices via the nest app. We also love the feature that we can use Google home to check if the door is locked and even ask it to lock the door for us while home.Installation was for the most part a breeze; however, your mileage may vary depending on the condition/setup of your prior door lock/deadbolt. Fortunately for me, my door cutouts were pretty much a direct match with the Nest x Yale lock set out of the box. Where I did hit a snag was struggling to fully extend the deadbolt to fit properly. At first, it only extended partially, I had to really jiggle and tug to fully extend the deadbolt to get it to fit precisely. As others may have noted, the Nest X Yale lock is very sensitive with regard to the strike plate. I did have to re-adjust the strike plate to ensure that the deadbolt didn’t miss as it operates. If you have a loose-fitting door when closed, be sure that you firmly shut your door before having Nest X Yale operate or it may end up missing the strike plate. We’ve just gotten into the habit of firmly closing the door to ensure smooth operation of the dead bolt.Additionally, bonus feature that we like is the ability to setup guest pins for use which allows us to keep track of who’s accessed our home. We also enjoy being able to keep track/see who’s operated our door as it’s all tracked on the Nest app.Overall, we are quite pleased with how well the Nest X Yale works! It looks beautiful and is adds a refreshing look to our front door but most importantly makes our lives easier. We never have to worry about forgetting our house keys again and that’s worth every penny!

One of the best on the market
Easy to install and works perfectly. Love the 9V battery backup option in case I forget to change the batteries and the added safety of not being able to pick the lock since there isn’t a keyhole.

This is a great lock with terrible quality control
I’ve owned the Yale Lock now for nearly a year exactly and the best way to describe how I feel about it is, it went from awesome to I will never purchase another product from this manufacturer again.First off, let me start by saying that although the lock says Nest on it, warranty services are provided an entirely different company called Yale which outsources their service to another cookie cutter – let me make the warranty service as difficult as possible – type of place.I started off loving this lock, the reminder feature when I forget to lock it was priceless, the auto lock feature although useful, ended up locking the door while the door was not closed which is just a feature flaw. The problems started somewhere 6 months in when I would randomly see the lock is offline and this happened mostly when I had my hands full and tried to unlock the lock from my car when I had to carry things and didn’t want to use my fingers to unlock the thing – you know the most inconvenient time possible.Fixing the offline issue usually involved restarting the lock, waiting an unspecified amount of hours for it to come online on its own, or removing and adding it back the the account and neither method worked 100% of the time and these were the only methods support would offer when you called them and mind you, this was with the lock offline while the nest connect dongle never looses connection and always shows online.Fast forward and I had to call in for warranty support after the nth time the lock went offline and they put me through so many hurdles, back and forth with Google, Yale and their service company that it took me over 1 month to get replacement product sent. This was 2 months ago, and my lock went offline again today and wont come back and here I am on Thanksgiving day filled with rage at technology and poor quality control that I came on Amazon to write a detailed review of how much I hate this product.Happy holidays everyone and don’t buy this garbage if you like reliable products

The Google Nest x Yale Lock has been a flawless addition to my smart home setup. The construction is solid and high-end, with a sturdy feel that inspires confidence in both security and durability. What really sets it apart is how seamlessly it integrates with the Nest ecosystem. Setup was straightforward, and now I can lock or unlock the door remotely, get alerts, and manage access codes right from the app—no extra hub. It’s sleek, reliable, and eliminates the need for keys entirely. If you’re already using Nest devices, this is a must-have upgrade that ties everything together perfectly.
