Stay away device doesn’t work and doesn’t load software stuck on load screen
This is a very frustrating device. They give you a 64gb memory card and the device doesn’t even power up passed the load screen at all .

Great device but you MUST read instructions to prevent any unexpected issues!
Just received in the mail.The device turns on and functions well well with many games. I was looking for one with the OG pokemon games (yes it has them!).I was also looking for a device with no wifi or Bluetooth. This device is advertised as not having wifi however you will find setting for wifi. I dont know if this is just a feature of the OS or if it is capable of wifi with external adapters. Further, i dont see and bluetooth functions/settings on this device. My military/government folk like myself may find this info valuable.Some reviews complain that they can not save their games. It is important to read the instructions as it tells you how to save the games (select+R1, not the native game menu option).Other reviews of similar devices indicate that it stops working after a while. Presumably due to a bad SD card. I plan to try to copy the provided card to a new (better) card in hopes to prevent issues. I also plan to try to make a backup SD card in case I experience corruption.I dont expect this to be perfect but so far I am pleased! It is worth it and would be perfect for deployments (military).I plan to update this review in the future.

Takes time to get right.
Not a official R36S but a clone that runs on emuelec not ARK OS.That being said, out the box it worked well. Games loaded fine and played fine. At some point the screen rotation was changed and all my games were playing sideways but fixed that in the settings. Then I couldn’t recall caved games. I’d try the in game save and it did t work, then I tried using the save state and it wouldn’t save, just hang at 0% saved.After much reading I found that the first thing you should do is get a new memory card and clone the files to the new micro SD card. But not any SD card is compatible. All Samsung sd cards are compatible. A 64gb card is in it, I upgraded to 128gb. I cloned memory card with win32 disk and then in the eerom drive, right click, hot properties, go to tools, scan and repair. After that you need to use mini tool partition wizard and extend the eerom partition to use up the unallocated memory. After that pop it in console and you’re done. Games save just fine.

If you don’t know computer or emulators, this isn’t for you
It’s great to play old games, but it’s not easy to figure out how to save games, etc. I am regretting my purchase, because I don’t know enough about how emulators work.

The first one had the screen go black on me, but they sent me a replacement quick. Me and the kids love this thing, so many games!

Can’t Save
That review stating you must read instructions doesnt know what hes talking about. I purchased 2 of these systems and was unable to save games. I know what buttons to hit to save the games. The saving screen would stay at 0% and never finish. That eliminates you from playing half the games.

Waste of money. Bought it play pokemon and when I try to save the whole thing freezes. Don’t buy it.

Fun, and frustration.
Pros: Beautiful screen! This thing is a knockout to look at.Tons of games! Including some that are nearly impossible to find in their original form.Cons: Controls. The D-pad is clunky and stiff. Thumbsticks are far to loose and imprecise.Ergonomics. Adding a bunch of buttons, sticks and triggers to the boxy shape of the original Game Boy means your hands and thumbs cramp up and ache after 30 minutes or so of intense play.Verdict: Good bang for the buck, but tough to control and tougher on thumbs.
