Works as expected – and if it fails, they will replace it!
I’ve bought a bunch of Silicon Power SSDs and SD cards over the years. All of them previously were fine, so I got two of these as mirrored boot drives for a home storage server. They worked flawlessly for over a year, and then one day after a reboot one of them went read-only. Unfortunate, yes, but that is why you have a mirrored array instead of just one drive for a server. These things happen. I filed an RMA request and included the relevant information. SP had me ship the drive to them and just a few days after it arrived, they approved a replacement which I received today new in box. I really appreciate their supporting their product, and wanted to use this review to encourage them to keep it up.Since, again, I got these to be boot-only drives for a server I don’t really have any thoughts on their performance – but they are nice slim 7mm drives which were as easy to install as a SATA drive can be. Excellent utility drive for something like a home server, HTPC, emulation box, or the like.

Budget-friendly SATA drive
The Silicon Power 128GB SSD is a budget-friendly SATA drive that offers significant speed upgrade for my old PC, it’s easy to install, works very well, no compatibility issues. It’s a great option for running your operating system. Bonus it provides better performance than a traditional HDD and great value for the price.

Nice and fast drives for low budget.Highly recommend for anyone trying to upgrade their systems or need a drive as a boot device when working with servers and virtual machines. This was does the job in a major way. Will be buying more to install in my others servers as boot drives for virtualization.Highly recommend.

Excellent, until I did a side by side comparison with an Samsung 860 PRO, which cost me the same
For what you pay for, it’s an excellent product, but after further investigation and getting my head on straight.I realized that my Samsung 860 Pro, actually blew this drive Silicon Power (128MB & 1TB) and a Crucial MX500 that I also purchased out of the water. While doing some initial side by side comparisons, Both the Silicon Power, Crucial MX500 & Samsung 860 Pro drives were relatively equal and I was surprised and happy with my new purchase(s).BTW, I still am happy, because in real world situations and for what I do, I don’t personally notice the difference, BUT, for those that do…While initially testing, the Samsung only held a slightly better performance to both the Silicon Power and the Crutial MX500 drives, but then I realized that my main drive, the (Silicon Power) was on a faster Sata III connector, which initially I thought were all the same speed and when testing the Crucial MX500, it was also a clone of the (Silicon Power) main drive on the same faster Sata III Connector. So briefly, the Samsung 860 Pro was virtually equal to both the (Silicon Power) and the (Crucial MX500), while only on a Sata II connection and both the Crucial MX500 & Silicon Power were on the Sata III when doing my initial comparison. After realizing my mishap, I loaded the operating system onto the Samsung 860 Pro, which was the only way to fairly compare all three drives and this baby (The Samsung 860 Pro) cleaned house with read and write speeds that were stable and in the 425 – 450+ mb’s range. So, without the photos handy, which I may provide at a later date. It’s crucial to compare apples to apples and when buying a new drive, that is destined to be your main drive. It’s highly probable that the newly acquired drive is on the faster of the available Sata ports and comparing to your old drive, may not be a fair comparison, which I’m sure these manufacturers know all too well. Some EQUAL speed Sata ports would be nice from the motherboard manufacturers, which are still installing USB 2.0 ports on motherboards in 2021, which in my humble opinion is Ridiculous!Hopefully, this helps someone in making their decision and I still love my Silicon Power & Crucial MX500 drives, but now I really love my new Samsung 860 PRO…Just joking and to be quite frank, and throw a wrench in the mix here:I can’t see the inner workings, for what I do, what it’s worth and what I personally noticed, the Crucial MX500 actually seemed to be the fastest of them all, when used as my main drive. It seemed the spunkiest with the least lag, but there are too many variables to weigh for each situation.Mine is some minor graphics, browsing the web with some Excel & Word products as well.If you got this far,Thank you for reading

It’s okay for the price.
Got this for my wife’s pc, it’s a boot drive. She’s happy that it’s faster to boot than her hdd was. It’s a budget drive that I expect it to fail. So it’s nothing more than the os and a few programs.

Perfect for TrueNas OS Drive
I shoot a combination of photo and video and needed to invest in a NAS to have a more reliable way of storing, accessing, and protecting my data. I’ve built my first TrueNAS server with the Silicon Power 156GB Solid State SSD to run the OS off of. SSDs are a more reliable way of storing the OS rather than use a USB drive like some people do. And at about the same price, the SP SSD was a no brainer and simply works!

A lot of bang for the buck!
ALL Silicon Power products fall under the “A lot of Bang for the Buck!” category. I have been using Silicon Power USB flash drives and SSD’s since 2010. Not a one has ever failed me. That’s what I know.

Best upgrade on a budget
Obviously Samsung SSD’s are probably the fastest SATA out there but you really don’t need the fastest SSD in the market. They all have around the same speeds, and are definitely faster when upgrading from a HD. If you are on a budget this SSD is the way to go. Bought 5 of them and all 5 work great and hold up. Don’t assume low price = low quality. Not true for this SP 128GB SSD.

worked like a wonder the moment i connected it and freshly installed Windows 10 and realised how an SSD makes a difference in loading OS and opening applications. i will recommend everyone who upgrade memory cards instead of their Hard disks to reconsider. Please remember that your SSD can load stuff way faster even with 2GB of ram even if its an average level machine. Just make sure not to reinstall OS over and over again on your new SSD and you are good to go. Now coming back to the topic, since i am using Silicon power for the first time, i am hooked and have had no issues for past 3 months. Got it registered online on the specified website on the package after it was delivered to me. You just need to know service centres around you just in case. Recommended so far!!!

It’s a great and lightweight internal SSD with decent performace. Was super easy to install and get my operating system on it. However, it doesn’t come with any screws to fix it inside the PC case. Other than that, an amazing buy.
