Great speed!!! The Crucial X9 Pro 2 TB portable SSD is also one one of the smallest external SSD’S. Very will built, and light weight. Hope over the long run that it turns out to be very durable. Will update this review if I find out otherwise, but right now I am very glad I purchased it. Love it so much that I am thinking about also purchasing the 4 TB model even though I don’t really need the extra backup storage right now 🙂

Tiny, blazing fast, perfect for backups
My old traditional hard drive did a Time Machine backup in 8 hours. This tiny 2 TB flash drive backed up my 400 megabytes + hard drive in about 20 minutes! And restoring files is also blazing fast. This is a recommended purchase.

Solid drive and would buy a couple more.
Works really well on a Mac with consistent speeds. I use it for downloading and watching 4k, maxes out my 2.5gbps line using a 10gbit port. Doesn’t get warm at all. All in all much faster than downloading to my 5tb external HDD.

Affordable and gets the job done
It is super portable and has fast file transfer speeds! The quality of the build is great, it is made out of metal and it is dust resistant. For the affordable price and utility it is great!

Absolutely abismal warranty service
The drive seems fine while it works. Isn’t that the case with most of these things?I was using this to store my Dropbox folder on a Mac laptop. That’s not…easy. But still, between being very careful and ensuring the computer never went to sleep, things seemed to work out.Turns out I got one that was bad out of the box. Took over a year to figure it out. Kept having weird inexplicable corruptions while the drive otherwise seemed totally fine. I blamed it on Dropbox at first, and my general lack of knowledge on what file system I should be using on a Mac.Finally the last time I got some cryptic Dropbox error message, I couldn’t even list the contents of a directory. I knew that meant physical drive problems. I connected it to a Windows PC (the only way you can run their diagnostics) and ran it…all green lights. Other third-party tools told me the drive was full of bad sectors.Upon closer inspection, their tool showed the number of “media errors” as 65535 – a clear indication the counter had maxed out. How is that drive “in good health”?! It’s not. Their tool lies.I sent them the screenshot and they immediately gave me an RMA number. However, they demand that you ship the drive to them, then they examine it, and then they send a replacement. Completely inappropriate for relatively large drives that I have nowhere else to back up. A lot of the data was still readable but I literally had nowhere else to put it. They refused to drop-ship a replacement drive. Why? Why can’t they just “sell” me one, and then refund me when they verify the drive was bad?So I had to buy another one on Amazon, with the intention of then returning the new drive they eventually send back.I sent the drive with tracking. I could see they had received it. I emailed them for a status update and they claimed they had not received it. So I send them the tracking link and they said “oh yes it looks like it’s here”. Wow. At that point I stopped paying attention.Eventually I got an email that they verified the drive was bad but the X9 was and end-of-life product so they were sending an X10 instead. Great, now I can’t return it.Some time later I got something slightly larger than a shoebox with a lot of paperwork on it. I didn’t think much of it. When I got around to opening this double-thick, box-in-a-box package, the replacement drive was tossed to one side in this huge box full of airbags. I just…cannot. There is more weight in packaging, as if they have never serviced a small electronic device before.So, warranty works like this:1. You have to double-check their diagnostic tool, which lies.2. You have to nag them to make sure they actually look at your drive.3. They will eventually send you something back. The overall process for me was a month.That is not product support. That is just punishment. Never buying Crucial again.

Worked well but gets really hot during a full system backup
So this worked pretty well. I bought it to have a full system backup before I upgraded my computer. The only downside which is not huge…it got really hot during the full system backup. Almost too hot to pick up. With regular use since then it has not gotten as hot. I did have to buy a longer cable because the cable that came with is was too short.

This is the best portable SSD I have purchased (and I’ve purchased many over years)! It is SO much faster than any others I’ve owned.I did have a question (just about registering the product) and customer service was immediate to respond. Très bon disque dur, jamais eu de souci le temps de mon utilisation.Les débits sont corrects et la petit led est très pratique pour savoir que le disque est en fonction.Jamais déçu des produits Crucial, surtout que celui-ci est vraiment compact et léger. Et il chauffe moins que les Crucial X6 avec leur coques en métal.
