What is this black magic?
I picked up this board on a Black Friday whim for $16. At that price for a mechanical, hot-swap board with full RGB, Bluetooth, 2.4GHz and a flippin’ numpad, why not? And why exactly was this board $16?Let’s start with the bad. The Kailh red switches. I’m just not a fan. They’re heavy by red standards, but they sound pretty good, and you can easily replace them. The included wrist rest is a bit on the uncomfortable side, since it’s basically just a magnetic wedge of plastic. It’s still a nice touch in a world where included wrist rests are becoming increasingly rare. The keycaps are a nice PBT. Gotta say, it’s nice having keycaps with Fn+ legends on them that are good enough to stay on the board. No latency issues in any connection mode. The switches are fully hot-swappable with 3-pin or 5-pin designs. A 5-pin hot-swappable for $16? Seriously, how? Why?The board is heavy, much heavier than I expected even for an 1800 layout. It goes without saying that there’s a lot of sound dampening material in there, and you can hear it when you type. A very clean sound, not hollow or pingy at all. The RGB looks surprisingly great and is easy to control from the keyboard. Again, keycaps with legends on them that I don’t immediately want to throw away…other brands should be taking notes here.So why was this board $16, even on Black Friday? I don’t know. I don’t care. I just know that from now until the end of time, if I’m shopping for a keyboard, I’m going to check on Hexgears’ stock first. There is absolutely no logic behind this board being as much of a pleasure to type on as it is. Definitely going to be the keyboard I use for work, and in my daily driver rotation. There is just no reason for a $16 board to look, feel and sound this good.

Functions Well, but Build Quality Could Be Better for the Price
This Hexgears keyboard gets a lot of things right. The typing experience is solid, thanks to the pre-lubricated linear switches and the sound-dampening structure, which gives it a pleasant, creamy sound without a lot of hollow noise. The tri-mode connectivity (Bluetooth, 2.4GHz, and wired) is a huge plus, offering a lot of flexibility for connecting to different devices like a PC, tablet, or even a gaming console. The hot-swappable feature is also great for customization without needing to solder. However, I’m knocking off a star for the overall feel and finish of the materials. The plastic case has a glossy finish that, in my opinion, feels very cheap and detracts from the otherwise premium features. Additionally, while the keycaps are advertised as PBT, they don’t have the textured, high-quality feel I’d expect. They still feel somewhat slippery and tend to pick up finger grease easily, which was a bit of a letdown. Also the palmrest was covered with weird plastic blemishes.Otherwise, the keyboard functions well. The RGB lighting is vibrant, the magnetic wrist rest is a comfortable addition, and it offers a lot of pro-level features for the price.

Beautiful Keyboard
Wow is all I can say. This keyboard is flawless. Absolutely beautiful in color and a soft white backlight makes it easy to see in the evenings. It’s my favorite buy from Amazon this far. The wrist rest is solid, attaches directly into the keyboard and I have no pain in my wrists after typing for a few hours at a time. Get this keyboard! You won’t be disappointed I promise!!!

GREAT Keyboard
I got the gold switch. The heavier weight needed but still linear makes typing so much better. The texture and shape of the keycaps are perfect. and being wireless on top of that?!My only complaint are the kepcaps. the bottom half is slightly transparent so the backlighting isn’t as efficient as it could be.

Glossy case = fingerprints
This review is for the dark blue tactile. The video I’ve attached is after I started changing the switches and caps, but I only pressed the ones I hadn’t changed yet. The board includeI think the board is okay, it checks all the same boxes as all the other hotswappable plastic boards on Amazon. After testing several, I don’t know that this would be my pick at the current list price of $79.99 (without coupon). I don’t think the switches feel very good and i hate the stock keycaps which have a weird profile, they’re sort of leaned forward and it doesn’t feel natural to type on. I used it for minutes before I had to change the caps and switches, but I’m kind of a keyboard snob. I imagine it’ll feel fine to most people. There are a ton of nice lighting effects if you’re into that. All of the features can be changed without downloading the software, which I appreciate. You can even use the keyboard to move your cursor. The case is a glossy plastic that attracts fingerprints very easily. It looks bad almost immediately after wiping it clean. Please note that the zero key on the numpad is narrower than standard. It doesn’t affect my score because I knew what I was getting, but I wanted to point it out because this can be weird if you’re touch typing and used to a standard width Num0. There are so many good options these days and the value isn’t there for me. But I think it’s a fine as a first mechanical or first hot-swappable board. The wireless worked fine for my PC that sits on my desk pretty close to the board, I didn’t test the range or anything.

Love this Keyboard!
This is an amazing feeling, beautiful looking keyboard. I got the Quicksand Gold switches, nice and quiet with a satisfying key resistance.
