One of the most striking features of the Level Lock+ is its discreet and seamless profile. Unlike other smart locks, the Level Lock+ is installed within the door, preserving the original look of your home’s entryway.Installation is very straightforward. With minimal tools and expertise required, users can easily retrofit their doors with this intelligent lock, making it an ideal choice for both homeowners wanting piece of mind and convince from the smart features.Functionality-wise, the Level Lock+ includes a lot of the features you would expect. The app allows you to conveniently control access to their homes remotely, monitor lock status, and receive real-time notifications. It also is compatible with leading smart home ecosystems. Setting up with my existing Google Home was seamless.In terms of performance, the Level Lock+ has been reliable and responsive. The lock operates smoothly and quietly. The one down side is the battery performance, it uses a CR2 battery, and despite claims of a year, expect a few months at best with heavy usage.The Level Lock is a brilliant concept if your absolute priority is an invisible smart lock. The design is top-notch. However, the battery concerns and the concerning hollow bolt design (where the battery lives!) are things I would like to see In never versions. But even with those concerns the benefits the core functionality of smart lock and the ability to retrofit existing doors.

High quality, beautiful looks, but installation can be difficult
I just installed two of these yesterday. The parts are well built and high quality as far as I can tell. The lock looks really nice. And the software goes to extra lengths to make the Level app setup exceedingly easy. The app even provides a wizard to add the lock to Apple Home! I did run into a couple of installation issues.First, the bolt on this lock is a fat round shape that did not fit the existing hole in the wall for my prior deadbolt, In addition the strike plate and bolt plate are quite thick – much thicker than I’ve typically seen on most doors. This required me to get out some wood chisels to re-form both the door and the wall to fit the deadbolt, digging both deeper and expanding the bolt hole. I’m not very good with a chisel, so this took quite a while, and didn’t turn out great. When the door handle is opened, the deadbolt and hence the door rattles back and forth. So unless you are pretty handy with a chisel or maybe a better tool for such an application, I would advise hiring a professional to do the installation.Next there was some kind of software glitch that prevented me from adding this lock to Apple Home. I was able to perform this without a hitch on the first lock. But the second lock stubbornly refused to integrate with Apple Home. I opened a support ticket and got a quick and fairly helpful response. But still no dice. Finally on a whim, I decided to cycle power on my phone and try it again. This did the trick, and I have a feeling the issue was with Apple Home, not the Level app, but I can’t be sure.The everyday use of these locks is still TBD for me. But given the high quality of the Level App and the hardware, I’m optimistic.
