Great smart plug to go with echo!
So I’m kind of new to the amazon device family. We just got our echo a few months ago. I’ve been a prime member for over 10 years so I’m familiar with how amazon has changed life as we knew it (for me anyway). I saw the amazon smart plug when I was searching for any brand smart plug that had Alexa control with it. It’s been in my cart saved for later for at least a month! I finally decided to just pre order it so that I could review it and hopefully help other people that are like me and have fallen way behind in the tech field. For reference I’m an almost 34 year old mom of 2. This means that my 8 year old stole my iPad, iMac, and I haven’t had a computer of my own in about 4 years! So I do everything from my iPhone. I’ve had some weird issues with our echo and my Alexa app that it will just randomly pause a song so I’m not sure what that is about.ANYWAY! I received my new amazon smart plug the day it was released (so glad it’s not like a new iPhone or PlayStation where people camp out ahead of time or do people still do this??). It was easier than I expected but harder than was described in the listing because my Alexa didn’t just recognize it.Setup:Since my Alexa didn’t recognize it on its own, I had to unplug the smart plug and quickly scan the code on the back of the plug, then plug it back in fast so that when it scanned for it it would see it plugged in. After that it was very simple. I was able to plug in my baby monitor and then tell Alexa to “turn off plug one” and it turned off! It is so cool!Future:I think homes will end up being built with these right into the electrical system. Maybe they already are.Comparing:With so many different brands offering smart plugs with Alexa integration I can’t see myself buying any more than 1 for $25. Too many are 2 for $20. While it’s nice to have the amazon support backing this up, I just can’t afford to fill my home with them at such a high cost comparative to other brands that do the same exact thing.Overall:If you can afford to fill your plugs with these then do! This smart plug is easy and awesome! But if you’re on a tight budget like I am, I would try a different brand first and see if those will work just as well.Every time I purchase something online, I always check the reviews. I count on others to help me choose the best option. Excellent smart plug based on experience
This plug is fantastic! I’m on buying my 8th smart plug. I realized I have never reviewed my experience with this device, not that my two cents is needed along with all the other reviews, but here I go! I have key lights in each room on an Amazon smart plug. I love the convenience of being able to walk through my home and use my voice through Alexa to turn on/off the lights as I’m walking. This has fundamentally changed how I live. It’s great to get up at 5:15 and be able to use the app to turn on the living room light and bathroom light right from bed! And as I’m rushing out the door I can quickly command Alexa to turn off my lights. Or if I forget, I can easily shut off via the app. Endless conveniences! I’m currently on to buy another smart plug to check out how it works with turning on the coffee maker from bed! Amazing!! I’ve even got them installed at my elderly mother’s home and she absolutely loves being able to turn on/off lights with her voice as she doesn’t get up and down so well. At any rate, I highly recommend this smart plug. I have had no issues with even one of them that I own. Excellent product!

Solves a problem with my garage door opener
We have power blips in our neighborhood regularly which sometimes causes our garage door opener to become unresponsive. The only way to get the garage door opener to work again is to unplug it for about 10 seconds, then plug it back in.My original plan was to use the alexa app on my phone to reboot the garage door opener so to speak if my garage door opener acts up.However if the smart plug looses power, when the power is restored, the plugged in device stays powered off. Of course you can power it back on using the app, but i would rather it default to the previous state. So the work around is that you would have to have a “ routine “ set up if you want it to either power your device up or keep your device powered down during a particular time.Using the “routines” feature on the amazon alexa app, if we do loose power, i have it set to power back on after 30 seconds automatically. So far its been working better than i hoped and with no intervention on my part.

Sooooo easy to set up and use. Quickly turn on any lights and especially so for the holidays rather than dig your way to a timer if you want them on before or after set times.

Time zone adjustment on smartplug
The product is in itself excellent, but on tyring to adjust to daylight saving time and consulting the Amazon customer service ”experts,” it seems they know virtually nothing except (perhaps) basic setuup. The plug will adjust automtically through the Alexa app on your phone, provided that you go to the iphone settings and choose to update time automatically. This will keep correct seasonal time on your device. The “zone” setting on your alexa smartplug menu always shows the basic locational time zone you are in standard time, but this is merely referential; the device adjusts automatically through your phone settings. Amazon could make thsi clearer and more facile in the setup guidance, especialy since the phone assist gives merely trial and error tips, but no definitive knowledge. One set up, the device is actually excellent. It gets 4 stars merely for the poor setup instructions.

Reliable Smart Control, Simple Setup
This is a straightforward product that performs better than expected. The setup process took less than one minute. I use it to control my window AC unit, allowing me to start it with a simple voice command from bed. The connection is strong and stays active, even when the Wi-Fi briefly dips. My one minor complaint is that the small status light is very bright at night, so I covered it with a piece of tape. For ease of use and solid function, this plug is highly recommended.

Don’t buy any other brand
We originally purchased cheaper ones and when we tried to connect we had to sign up for a plan and they wanted our credit card. Ordered these and the set up was incredibly easy. Especially for someone who is not tech savvy. My recommendation is go for these. So worth it
