Shure Thing – Phantom
I almost returned the product and missed out of a very good product. We replaced our pulpit at church and now have a clear one as you can see in the picture. I didn’t want to drill a whole to install the gooseneck one and show some cables. I like how flat this one is and can pick up sounds from any direction (user be aware of open mic 😂). After I installed it, it wouldn’t work. After thinking about returning it, someone came in to tell me to press the « phantom » button on the panel. Immediately, this thing became plug-and-play. The preachers love it as it picks up the sound of their voices from distance and omnidirectional. Additionally, no one can see it from the pews side of the sanctuary.

Big Sound, Little Mic!
Bought this mic for the Alter Table of my church as an alternative of my Pastor using a headset mic. Both my Pastor and Deacon love it. After a proper volume adjustment, this mic picked up sounds within a wide area regardless of movement which totally out performed the nuisance of wearing any headset. The downside is the cable is thinner than most mic cables and is attached to the mic. I would of preferred a jack in the mic so when the cable goes bad, you merely replace it. However, because of it’s quality, price, and performance, I still gave it 5 stars. As a musician who has worked with sound equipment most of his life, I definitely recommend this mic. It Shure holds up to the Shure name!

Decent mic
This seems like a higher end microphone than others in it’s price range. I attempted to use it with a fairly cheap system however, and while it works well with up close sounds, with the source slightly more removed it seems to pick up ambient noise more than vocal sources. I do think this could be fixed with a system that allowed for more adjustment of the sound.

Excellent for what I needed.
I have a small congregation. The main sanctuary is L-shaped, about 1000 ft.². Wanted a microphone to pick up the voices from the congregation. Stuck it on the wall towards the back. Excellent pick up and good quality sound. Very happy with this purchase.

Zoom Meeting Coverage
Using these mics through a sound board to occasionally broadcast a meeting room through Zoom. These mics are able to pick up an 8-foot radius behind and beside the mic when placed on top of the tables; so much more than I expected! We have a 14’ x 36’ seating area that is covered by 6 of these mics; we may have been able to just use 4. Love the capability of these mics.

Good but not ideal
Using for skits and demonstrations at a table with two participants. With our system we get a lot of feed back if we turn volume up to high which is needed with some of the soft spoken participants. Also picks up any tapping or fumbling around on table.Currently using a cellphone car mount to help elevate and isolate noise from table.

Fantastic Mic
I bought this to go into an preamp and from there a set of wireless headphones for my mother that is very very hard of hearing. When visiting I was getting tired of screaming for her to hear me. After everything was hooked up and the test began, I totaly impressed. When I first hooked it up I thought something was wrong with the mic, the system or something because I could hear music and I had nothing playing in the room. After about 5 minutes checking things out it finally hit me, it was picking up the music I have playing downstairs and across the room. Without the mic and preamp that music can not be heard. Totally blown away with how well this mic picks sound up not only close by 5′ -10′ but even at 20′ -30′ you can still hear things. Great quality!!!!!

works well IF YOU have 48V of phantom power for this microphone
Works IF you provide phantom power (48V) from the interface or attached recorder. Listing this as installed doesn’t quite translate to “must have phantom power” but that is what they mean.

Got this to use as an area mic for a church for getting sound from the sanctuary into a closed side room. Lapel mics were not a good solution since we wanted all the sound from the choir, readers, priest etc.Struggled for a bit to identify something that would work, and I was crossing my fingers that this might do it. It has ended up being perfect! Does a very nice job of picking up sound from the entire large space clearly. It’s been entirely no hassle–just set it up and wired it into our sound system and haven’t touched or adjusted it since. Very pleased with the result!
